Jaquara
Anderson, Arlington sophomore, was born December 31st with stars in
her eyes. Juaqura's whole life she has been focused on seeing her name in lights.
She is the middle child out of three and is the only girl. Jaquara said, “Being
the middle child was tough! The baby always got their way and my older brother
always blamed me for things.” She often had to fight for the limelight. “I sang
before I could talk and danced before I could walk.” Jaquara said, “One of
these days I will be bigger than Ryan Seacrest!” She has always looked up to
Ryan and plans to focus on his success to help drive her to the top.
At
the age of six Jaquara began her acting career when she was featured in a
commercial that aired on NBC for a local news station. She received five
dollars as compensation for her work, Jaquara said, “I thought I was rich!”
Ever since then a fire was ignited in her fueling her hunger for fame.
Jaquara has pursued many different
avenues to try and reach her dream. On June 26, 2009 she auditioned for
American Idol and unfortunately did not advance to the next round. However,
that didn’t stop her, she then tried a different approach to acquiring her
dream. Jaquara began the search to find a talent agent, someone who would get
her name out there. She went to many different agencies but all of them
required ridiculous amounts of money to get into. Jaquara’s mother, Tresa
Harris said, “Baby, if someone really wants you, they wont ask you to pay
money.” Jaquara took her mother's advice and turned down agency after agency that
requested money from her.
In 2011 when watching her favorite show, Glee, Jaquara
decided that it was her destiny to become a part of that show. So, on a whim
Jaquara packed up her bags and drove an excruciating 45 minutes to Fort Worth
for an open casting call Glee was holding. Jaquara said, “It was the most
miserable experience of my life and I will never do it again.” On that
particular day of the year, it snowed and temperatures were below freezing. She
waited approximately 17 hours outside in the cold, without bathroom breaks or
snacks, for a five-minute audition only to be told no. “The only thing good
about the experience was that I got to meet Darren Cris.” Jaquara said, Darren
Criss is one of the hit super stars of Glee.
Jaquara may not be
famous now but her dream has definitely not given up on her dream. She plans
on attending more casting calls as soon as she finishes her radio/tv degree
here at SFA.
